Product Summary
The GEM318P is a low-cost, self-contained storage backplane controller. It is a true single-chip solution – no additional components are required. Its small footprint and low implementation cost make it ideal for entry-level storage subsystem and server applications. The GEM318P is implemented as a standard LVD SCSI target device and supports the SAF-TE specification. The GEM318P reports enclosure configuration and status, detects and reports when a drive has been swapped, and controls visual indicators and alarms.

GEM318P features: (1)Integrated backplane controller for SCSI Accessed Fault-Tolerant Enclosures (SAF-TE) applications; (2)Low voltage differential (LVD) SCSI interface; (3)Ultra2 and Ultra3 SCSI compatible; (4)Supports up to eight drives; (5)Eight LED control pins provided; (6)Global failure input; (7)Global alarm output; (8)Automatic hot swap detection; (9)Automatic fault notification; (10)Integrated master/slave I2C interface; (11)Supports up to two LM75 temperature sensors.
